Pirates of the CaribbeanTheme park origins
The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction was dreamed up in the late 1950s as a walk-through wax museum at Disneyland that would feature depictions of real pirates from history. Instead, Disney Imagineers used the technology achieved in the company's four pavilions at the 1964-1965 World's Fair to forge the attraction into a cheerful boat ride through realistic environments filled with
fictional Animatronic pirates plundering a Caribbean seaport. The song, Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me), sets a lighthearted atmosphere for what were seen historically as violent criminals.
The last Disney attraction designed with Walt Disney, it originally opened in New Orleans Square at Disneyland in March of 1967. Since then, it has been imitated in thee different forms at Disney theme parks Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in December of 1973, Tokyo Disneyland in
April of 1983 and Disneyland Paris in April of 1992.
